So after 2017's whirlwind of wedding planning and settling into our new home, the new year brought the huge & terrifying decision: going full-time freelance. With my husband's support & an enthusiastic bark from our dachshund, I am my own business now! Omg, guys.
The past few days have been the first time I have ever solely worked from home after years & years of commuting to the city (or further!). Let me tell you that this has been exhilarating, terrifying, exciting...but mainly I have already learned that self-discipline is key. My goal from 8am - Noon is to absolutely not be lazy. I figure if I can at least get something done with my first cup of coffee for the day, I'm on the right track. So far this plan has been working.

In hindsight, my career path has taken some interesting twists and turns. I realized that they all happened when they needed to, which of course I didn’t understand or see at the time. If there is one thing I’ve learned out in the real world of work it’s this: everything in your life happens for a reason. Growth only begins to really happens when you’ve reached rock bottom. Are you a creative writer? A professional blogger? A poet? A tech writer?
Whatever type of writing you prefer or do for a living, a notebook should be something you should absolutely consider keeping in your routine.
I want to be upfront and honest with you, dear reader: I have become a Grammarly affiliate. This is only because I am 100% completely sold on this service that will absolutely benefit ANY writer immensely. I want to share my experience using this service with you...
Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration is a wonderful book about the Pixar company’s history and philosophy, which created the most innovative and inspiring company since the Disney corporation itself. I truly believe that anyone from business executive to freelance writer should read this inspiring book.
