A little bit about me.
I am a native Pittsburgh-girl who strongly believes in putting french fries on my salad. I currently enjoy the Texas heat living in Houston, TX, which has become my new home. My time here has allowed me a newly-found strength in myself, renewal of my faith, and a passion for all things Texas-shaped, of course.
My very first love was creative writing & English lit, followed closely by photography & graphic design. My pursuits in writing began with a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Communications where I learned how to start knitting these passions together.
I entered the workforce, and have since gained 12+ years of B2B & B2C marketing experience in various realms: local credit union's, even the Walt Disney World College Program. (Yes, I did work in Epcot in Imagination with Figment :) My freelance clients have been small businesses in several fields including small credit unions, windows, recreational boat tours, non-profits, even oil & gas. I understand the needs of small & growing businesses in many industries.
As I gained experience in marketing first-hand, I pursued a Master’s degree in Professional Writing & Web Content Development from Chatham University, a program heavily focused on web design basics, UI/UX principles and information architecture to encourage a deep understanding of writing for an online platform. This was an amazing program that allowed me a chance to really utilize my writing strength in tandem with my eye for design.
Since I graduated, I have pursued the freelance-life, which has allowed me to continue my work while starting my family. I married my husband in 2017. We have a son, diagnosed with autism, and a typical daughter who just started preschool. My family is my everything and my reason for everything I do.
If I have any time to spare, I do enjoy reading for fun, taking online courses to gain new skills, getting crafty with my sewing machine, and crafting with my kids.
